Find out more about the concept behind Wretched and Divine
US rock band Black Veil Brides say their third studio album, due for release in
January, is based on "the idea of fear and shadows".
Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones is a concept record containing
19 tracks.
Lead singer Andy Biersack says fans can expect a regular rock record which also
has a story that parallels their own experiences in life.
"The story follows this group of outcast leaders, rebels, through their journey
to defeat this fear, which is an acronym for every and all religion," he
said.
"There's this unified church government. Their sole goal is to remove all
science and creativity and original thought from society, yet de-evolve things a
little bit and make it darkness."We wanted to do something bigger
and better than just making another record"
- Ashley Purdy
Many bands have had success releasing concept albums in recent years including artists from Marilyn Manson to Thirty Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance.
The band's bass player Ashley Purdy defended releasing a concept album as their third record saying they "wanted to do something bigger and better than just making another record".
The record was produced by John Feldmann, who has worked with artists like Neon Trees, Panic! At The Disco and The Veronicas.
As well as releasing their first new music since 2011's Set the World on Fire, the LA rockers also have a film to release based on the story running through Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones.
"We're probably going to do something different next year than
we've done previously but we definitely plan on doing some festivals"
- Andy Biersack
"We've got a full-length feature film which is called Legion of the Black, which
will be in cinemas in the States in December," says Andy Biersack.
"Then it's going to be on pay-per-view around New Year's time worldwide.
We'll probably bring it to cinemas over here towards the Kerrang! tour."Biersack also revealed that the band plan to play a festival next summer but aren't sure which one yet.
"We're probably going to do something different next year than we've done previously but we definitely plan on doing some festivals."
